Highlands County Recycling Program

Highlands County currentlyhas three drop-off recyclingcenters. Each site accepts plasticbottles, jugs, and jars, steel andaluminum cans, clean flattenedcardboard, newspaper, junk mail,office paper (not shredded) andother non-coated paper. Aseparate bin is available forglass. Lithium-ion batteries arealso accepted.

Attendants at each site areable to answer your questions,help you deposit the items thatcan be recycled, and make surethe items are deposited in theappropriate recycling containersto avoid contamination.


Plastic bags are not anaccepted recyclable item andare not allowed inside the bins.They can be used to bringrecycling items to the sites, andthen be reused or thrown awayin the trash afterward.
